President Maithripala Sirisena promised the TNA that a firm decision on the Tamil Political Prisoners who are being detained for long periods.
Taking the current political situation in to consideration he will discuss with National Security Council and the Attorney General’s Department and will take a firm decision in two weeks, the President had said to the TNA.
It has been announced in a press release issued by TNA yesterday evening that the above promise was given by the President, when the TNA met the President yesterday evening.
The TNA delegation led by Era Sampanthan included MPs, M.A.Sumanthiran, Selvam Adaikalanathan and Tharmalingam Siththarthan.
During this meeting the TNA has insisted with the President that the Problem of the TPPs as a legal as it is a political problem.
A person who attempted to murder the President had been released on a general amnesty. Likewise the President should offer proposals of ways and means to release the TPPs, to the Attorney General Department, the TNA has suggested.
