The Prime Minister of Malaysia has promised the NPC CM that he will send a high level Malaysian State Official to the North to solve the problems of the people here.
A meeting occurred between the Malaysian Prime Minister who is on a visit to Colombo and the NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran yesterday at the Sangarilla Hotel in Colombo at around 8.30 a.m..
A press release issued by the CM’s Office said that the CM informed the Malaysian Prime Minister that, the Military is continuing to occupy around 62,000 acre and they are dominating sectors like commerce, Fishing, Agriculture and Tourism.
Only around 5,000 acre has been released to date. The military has caused several problem to 49,000 Woman-Leadership families, 11,000 families of the former militants and the disabled. He also suggested that it will be better a cycling fund in aid of the above.
Further he had said that 139,000 houses were needed for the North and the Indian Government had already provided 50,000 houses. EU and other Organisations have also provided houses. However, still more than 50,000 houses are needed.
The Prime Minister in reply had said that he will send a group from Malaysia to Northern Province, with the knowledge of the Sri Lankan Government and they will study the situation here as to in what sectors assistance should be provided and investments could be be made. After they submit their report, due action will be taken. This group will also include third generation of the Malaysian Tamil Diaspora.
