“Mamanithar” Taraki  Sivaram commemorated in Kilinochchi

The 12th commemoration of the Journalist Mamanithar Tharmaratnam Sivaram (Taraki) who was assassinated has been sentimentally at the Kilinochchi town. It was held at 3.00 p.m. at the Bharathy Star Hall in Kilinochchi town.

The NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran participated as the Chief Guest,  with  several others including MP, Sivasakyhy Ananthan, MPc, M.K.Sivajilingam and former MPs, K.Suresh Premachandran and Anananthasangary.

The CM while delivering his speech said, “Sivaram continued to clarify to the world that the rights of the Tamil people cannot be obtained from the Chauvinists through any negotiations. Although the same context is prevailing even now, we are proceeding with the hope of bringing progress through powerful pressurization, silencing the weapons”.

In this event held under aegis of the Jaffna Press Club presided by its president,  A. Sabeswaran, a memorial lecture ” Taraki and Geo politics  of Sri Lanka was delivered by the Coordinator of the Media studies and Arts Faculty, Dr. S.Raguram. Former MPO, Suresh Premachandran delivered an add under” THe role of Sivaram in the formation of TNA”

Several journalists from the North and East and Sinhalese from the South also participated.
