The Consular section of the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry, established in the Jaffna District Secretariat is to be opened on forthcoming 26th, by the Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera. All these days, a situation existed where the Tamil people of Northern Province had to travel all the way to Colombo for obtaining the services of the Consular section of the Foreign Ministry.
A mobile service of the Consular section of the Foreign Ministry was held last year during Nallur Festival. During this service NPC CM , C.V.Wigneswaran put forward a request for the Consular Section be opened in the North.
Office space had been allocated in the newly built District Secretariatand the Consular Section established there. Interviews for selecting the staff for the Consula section were held in November, last year at the District Secretariat.
The new Consular Section is to be opened on 26th and the Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera is expected to participate in it
