Mannar MPCS Building released by Army after 28 years of struggle

The Mannar MPCS building  located at the Mannar entrance and which was under the Army control for the last 28 years was officially handed over by Mannar Assistant Divisional Secretary, Mrs. Sivasambu Kanakambihai to the Official of Cooperative Department, Mannar.

An urgent conference on the release of lands under the control of the Army in Mannar District was held at  the Mannar   District Secretariat. The Northern Governor Reginold  Cooray who participated in this conference ordered the Divisional Secretary to immediately hand over the Cooperative building located at the Entrance to Mannar which was under the Army Control to the Cooperative. As per the orders of the Governor, the building was taken over from the Army and handed over to the Cooperative.

However , in a context where the Army had not vacated completely from the building , the Army had been granted time till Wednesday to vacate completely from the building.

The Assistant Divisional Secretary, Mrs. Sivasambu Kanakambihai, The land officer of the Mannar Divisional Secretariat, K.Vasanthan and Officials of the Cooperative Department participated in this event
