Maxwell Commission  refuse to take complaint on person went missing in Colombo

The Maxwell Paranagama Commission on missing persons refused to take a complaint from the brother of  Sithambaram Navaratnem ( 67) of Ward 10, Punkudutheevu  who went missing on 2009.08.10 while going to Colombo, saying that this complaint should be made in Colombo Police, because it is not connected to war.

The sittings of the Commission was held yesterday at Velanai Divisional Secretariat.

When the above complaint was made the Commission was informed that Colombo police refused take the complaint and finally he had to complain at his local police station in Kayts and thereafter no action had been taken the commission was adamant in refusing and asked the complainant to make the complain again to the police.

The complainant commenting to the media afterwards, said this commission is trying to hoodwink people and questioned as to how can they say that his brother’s going missing is connected to the war.
