Micro Loans which disintegrate Social Structure – Ready to act by drafting policies, says Central Bank Governor, in Jaffna

The Northern people are encountering large amounts of problems .  Due to increase of interest in the contemporary period, and being unable to pay back the micro loans, several women have taken to the brink of committing   suicide, said the Governor of Central Bank in Jaffna.

A meeting to discuss micro finance loans was held at the Auditorium of the Jaffna Secretariat yesterday led by the Governor of Central Bank,  Professor W D Lakshman. This meeting was held with the intention of identify the problems encountered in micro loans and to draft various policies in conjunction with the government so as to build up the economy of the Country.

During this meeting around 25 beneficiaries participated in it and expressed their personal problems regarding micro loans and the solutions expected by them for their problems.

After recording the opinions expressed by the beneficiaries, The Governor, Prof. Luxman  said that he understands how far the people had been  affected by the problems  and that he is ready to draft policies which will release the people from those problems.
