Military camps should be removed: Teachers’ Association

The Sri Lanka Teachers’ Association had placed before the Governor when they met him Colombo a memorandum with 46 requests including calls for proper investigation about murders and rapes perpetrated on students, the frauds and corruptions that are occurring in Education Departments and that Army camps in and around schools should be removed and students allowed to carry out their routine learning.

 The representatives of the Association met the Governor yesterday led by Its General Secretary, Joseph Stalin.

Elaborating further, he said, although 5 years has passed after the end of the War, 83 schools remained closed while they are trying open new schools instead of re-opening the closed schools.

The Association further said that,  the Governor, had told them that the transfers will be implemented from March and he will make all efforts to solve the military related matters discussing them with the Defense Ministry and matters coming under the purview of the Central Government with them.
