Monitor people pawning fake jwellery and bulk jewelery, Bank Officers advises Police

The police had advised the Bank Officials yesterday to be vigilant about people bringing fake jewels  and jewels in bulk.

There were several incidents of pawning fake jewels and drawing money from banks in several parts  the Country including Jaffna District.

In this context a discussion was held with the officers in charge of pawning, by Police yesterday, at the Jaffna Police Station.

The Officers in charge of pawning units were told that they must identify people with potential  for pawning fake jewels and people who wish to pawn jewels in bulk, from where did they come. Special attention should be paid on women, they further said.

This discussion was held by the OIC of the Special Crime prevention Brance, IP, Sarath Premachandra under the direction of Police Station OIC, Woodler.
