Uyilankulam massacre was remembered during the 6th day observance of Muliwaikkal week, held at Uyilankulam. On 1984.12.14 a passenger bus was travelling from Vavuniya to Mannar. The Army attempted to shoot the passengers. The Conductor a Sinhalese named William pleaded with the Army that the passengers are all innocent and if they want shoot passengers to shoot him first. The Army shot him dead and then went on to massacre 34 innocent Tamils.
The 6th day of the Muliwaikkal Commemoration was observed at Uyilankulam in remembrance of this massacre under the organization of MPc, M.K.Sivajilingam.
It is notable that similar events were held at chavakachcheri and Kilinochchi.
