3 members of Karuna Group linked to the murder of a police officer of Kokkadichcholai Police Station were arrested and the court had given permission to exhume the body buried in cemetery on the 11th of next month, the CID said.
Prasanna, a police officer serving at Kokkadichcholai police station went missing 2008, while returning home from duty.
While the CID was inquiring the murder of 2 police men at Vavunativu last year, it was learnt that the missing officer was abducted and shot dead.
Karuna Group’s former members, Mahilan alias Antony Paul Ajatheepan, Mathan alias Thampimuththu Selvarasa and Linkan alias Chandran Supramanium were arrested on suspicion of abducting and killing the missing police officer , from Oatamavady, Kaluwanchchikudy and Kallady during last March and detained for 3 months under CID custody in Colombo.
Inquiries from had revealed that the body of the killed officer had been buried in the Munaikkadu cemetery in Kokkaddchcholai.
CID, Inspector N. Navaratne sought the permission of Magistrate Court, Baticaloa on last Thursday to exhume the body for analysis. The court had granted permission for exhumation on the 11th of next month, the CID said.
