Myliddy TB Hospital , used as recreation Centre , released by the Army, after 30 years

After the displacement from Vali North that occurred 30 years ago, the whole of Myliddy including the TB Hospital was included into the High Security Zone and into Army control. As this hospital is located near beaches so as for the TB patients could stay there and receive treatment. Therefore many factions had continuously requested the Government to release this hospital area.

The Army had handed over yesterday had handed over documents indicating that the hospital and the accompanying land in extent of 3 acre to the Additional GA (Land), S.Muraleetharan and the Regional Director of Health, Jaffna, Dr.K.Nanthakumar.

As this complex had used up to yesterday, the hospital setup had been changed rendering it to be unfit for use as a hospital. Hence it could be only used as a hospital only after making necessary alterations in its structure, said the Health circles.

As the Army has left back some furniture, guards were posted immediately to safeguard the furniture left by the Army. It is notable that this hospital was established by English Monarch, King Edward VIII.
