The New Governor of the North, Suren Ragavan has indicated that the use of Narcotics in the North will be eradicated completely.
The Governor, who made a visit to Naginai Naga Bhoosany Amman Temple, made worship at the Temple. Thereafter he engaged in discussions with the Nagavihare Viharathipathy, Mehakathure Wimala Thero and Nayinatheevu Viharathipathy, Namathagala Pathmakithi Thero.
Indicating especially about the abuses of narcotics in the North, the Viharathipathies also requested that constructive action be taken to eliminate completely, the Narcotics menace that is leading the youths into disastrous paths, from the North.
Commenting that he views the appointment Suren Ragavan as the Governor of the North by the President as an excellent move, Wimalatharma Thero promised that he is ready to work with the Governor to establish good relationship among religions in the North.
The Governor in reply said that he is implementing the Anti-Narcotic project under the direct supervision of the President and he will take suitable action to control the use of narcotics in the North.
Meanwhile, he also met and had discussion yesterday with the Bishop of Jaffna, Rt. Rev. Justin Gnanapragasam. It also notable that he visited Nallur Kandaswamy Temple and worshiped there.
