National Girls Football – Mahajana wins in an all-North Final beating Pandetharippu Girls School

For the first time in the History of National School girls Football competitions, two team from North have entered the Final and matched their skills.

This tournament was held by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Federation were conducted at Gampola on 27th and 28th of this month.

In semi finals, Thellipalai Mahajana beat  Kurunegala Maliyadeva Balika MV and Pandetharippu Girls School beat Kavisigamuwa Girls school and entered the finals.

At the end of the first half, Pandatharippu GS led 2:0 with goals scored by N.Nirosika and S.Valentina. In the 2nd half, Mahajana’s Baskaran Sanu scored two consecutive goals and the match ended in a 2:2 draw.

In the tie- breaker Majana team clinched the championship scoring 3:2.

Baskaran Sanu of Mahajana was selected as the best Player of the tourney and Pandatharipu’s Mariyanayagam Lansika as the best Goal keeper.

St. Patricks Jaffna runner up in the under 18 National Football Championship.

St.Patricks, Jaffna was placed runner up in the under 18 National Football Championship conducted by the by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Federation, held at the Race course ground.

St.Joseph College, Colombo, which was pitted against St. Patricks and won the match 3:1 beating St.Patricks into second place.
