Rear Admiral S.M.D. Kapila Samaraweera, appointed as the new Commanding Officer of the North, met the Governor Dr. Suren Ragavan day before yesterday morning at the Governors Secretariat.
During this meeting the Governor requested the Commander to take suitable action to eradicate the narcotics problem in the North. He also discussed about handing over the lands of private people currently under the Navy in the North.
He extensively discussed with Commander regarding releasing the lands belonging to Naguleswarar Temple in Keerimalai.
He also discussed about building up goodwill among the Navy personnel and the Northern Fishermen.
