An important meeting is to be held today on acquiring 626 acre land that had been occupied already by the Navy and belonging to the Tamil people with their consent is to be held today. This urgent meeting will be chaired by the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Defense.

The Navy camp at Vadduvagal is constructed over 626 acre belonging to 28 Tamil families including the NPC member Antony Jeganathan.

When an attempt was earlier made to seize these lands permanently, the legal owners of the land vehemently protested the effort. In this context a meeting had been organized at the Karaithuraipattu Divisional Secretariat, to be presided by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defense. The owners had been invited along with the representatives of the Federation of Fishermen Societies to participate in this meeting.
