Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva has stated that there is no proper reason behind the stand of the UPFA on the issue of the nominee of the opposition leader.
Speaking in Parliament, he said:
“When a group of members of the UPFA joined the government, members said I cannot be elected the Opposition Leader. So if I cannot be elected, another member from UPFA too cannot be elected as the Opposition Leader. But I have to say I am ready to abide by the decision of the Speaker. But those who need the position of opposition leader could take it, but one should not back stab.”
