We have no faith in Internal Mechanism, International Judges a ‘must’, say people of Vanni

It is a ‘must’ that International Judges in the War Crimes Investigation Mechanism. We are saying this on the basis of our past experiences. We want justice for our kins who were killed, maimed and missing. I am saying this as a per son who had lost his children and relatives, said 62 year old A. Amirthalingam from Yogapuram Mallavi, to the Reconciliation Task Force.

The Task Force for collecting people opinion on how to conduct War Crimes investigation and Missing persons held its sittings Thunukkai Divisional Office.
Continuing his statements he said, When we complained about our missing to the Paranagama Commission , they were not prepared to hear all that, They only asked whether we want chicken, goats or cows. We are asking for that We are asking about our kins and relatives.
“We  are people who were devastated by Cluster bombs. They killed us by hunger. Several people died of hunger. Several killed in food queues. 300,000 of us were trapped there,  the government sent only food enough for 25,000. President’s Commissions’ reports never saw the light.
If local judges are used the investigations will meet the fate of Kumarapuram Massacre, where identified accused had been released. Hence we demand International Judges.”, said Kandaiyah Navaratnarajah.
