TNA MP, Gna. Srinesan had said that there was no freedom even to talk during the past Mahindha regime.
He had said so while participating and speaking in an event to honour students who had obtained good results in the GCE (OL) Examination, held yesterday.
Elaborating further, he said that during that regime several Tamil people were abducted and made to disappear. Freedom of speech was not there. Freedom to talk was not there.
But, there is some sort of freedom is there. We are able carry out some development work now. An advanced situation is prevailing. We are able to get more good things from the people in power now. That is why voted in support of the Budget. They have allocated 5 Billion for the development of North and East.
A task force has been formed for the development of the East. Several Development projects are to be undertaken through it. Activities are being pursued for the renovation of several factories including the Valaichchenai Paper Factory, he said.
