A resolution was adopted in the Jaffna District Development Committee (DDC) meeting that no land should be acquired for Army in Jaffna District.
An order had been issued to the Survey Department for surveying further 43 lands that are to be acquired for Army in Jaffna District.
The DDC has adopted a resolution saying that no land could be surveyed for acquisition until the matters relevant to lands proposed to be acquired are studied and reports submitted.
Director of Surveys revealed the above matter when the matter of land acquisition was taken up in the DDC meeting held at the Jaffna District Secretariat.
Ministry of lands had issued the order to the divisional Secretary. The recommendation of the Divisional Secretary is not sought in this matter.
Lands to be acquired police stations should taken into consideration. Establishment Police stations is very essential said M.A.Sumaanthiran, MP.
After deliberations it was decided that the Divisional Secretaries should study about the lands to be acquired and submit report about them and surveying of the 43 lands should suspended until the reports are submitted.
