No list other than LTTEers rehabilitated and released: Army changes position

We do not have any list other than LTTEers who have been released after rehabilitation, the Commanding Officer of the 58D, Chanakkya Gunawardene testified in the Mullaitheevu District Court.

During the hearing in the same court in February the same officer testified that they have a list of  LTTEers who surrendered to the Army and the court ordered him to submit the list in the court.

During the last date of the case, in the context of the army officer submitting a list of LTTEers released after rehabilitation, the judge saying  that that was not the list ordered to be submitted and ordering him to submit the ordered list, The Army officer said in court that no other list is available.

A habeas Corpus motion was filed by the relatives of persons missing after surrendering to the Army in 2012 and the case was transferred to Mullaitheevu. After recording the testimonies of witnesses of the plaintiffs, recording the statements of the respondent commenced on December 10th.

The Army Officer then said that the names of the person in the motion is not with them and that he searched for them in a list available with them. When asked on what basis he is saying that, he had answered that he said it on the basis a list of persons surrendered to the 58D, following which the court ordered that he submit that list.
