No problems from Sri Lankan Forces, if Indian Fishermen will not cross the Border – Doughlas

New Minister of Fisheries and Aqua Resources, Doughlas Devenanda has firmly said that, if the Indian fishermen will not transgress into Sri Lankan territorial waters no problem will be caused by Sri Lankan Navy.

He said this in reply to an Indian media which raised questions regarding the Indian fishermen being attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy, while engaged in fishing.

Elaborating further he said that he had learnt that when Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen cross the border problems are being created by respective Navies.

Further I have not been informed about Indian fishermen being attacked by Sri Lankan Navy while engaged in fishing in their side of the border. At the same time I can assure that the Indian Fishermen will not be attacked, he said.
