No punishment meted out to date, for abuses perpetrated by Army: says Ananthy Saseetharan

The NPC Minister, Ananthy saseetharan said yesterday that, no punishment had been meted out to date, for abuses perpetrated by Army. She was speaking in the Women’s Day Celebrations held at Kilinochchi yesterday when she said this.

Several families have been rendered woman Leadership Families. Many of them are led by women less than 41 years old. The South African Envoy is present here. As they have won their political rights after a struggle, they are well aware of our problems. Although several women and children have been subjected to abuses by the Army, no punishment meted out to date, for abuses perpetrated by Army.

Not only this, but also not even inquiries were held about the cruelties undergone by the women in Eastern Province, she said.
