The Norther Army Commander Major General Mahes Senanayake said that there are 275 former militants living in Jaffna without any rehabilitation and there are no security threats from them.
He was speaking in a media conference held at the Palaly Army Camp day before yesterday, when he said this. The former members who surrendered to the Army, were rehabilitated. There are 2,963 former militants who were rehabilitated and released were living in Jaffna District. 615 of them are girls.
Another 275 former militants are living in Jaffna district without undergoing any rehabilitation. They had been identified. They did not surrender to the army voluntarily.
However there is no threat from them to the National Security or the people, he said.
