No Sinhala Colonization in Mulaitheevu, says Sumanthiran

No Sinhala Colonization in Mulaitheevu, says Sumanthiran

Sinhalese people were colonized in Mulaitheevu and Vavuniya Districts during the  Mahindha Regime. No colonization was undertaken during the Good Governance Government. However, it is true that that, permits are being given now to lands given during the last regime, said the Spokesman of TNA and MP, M.A.Sumanthiran.

He said so in answering the questions of the Media at a media conference held at the Point Pedro office of the TNA yesterday.

Several things have changed now. Particularly, lands at Kepapulavu has been released except for a small extent. Major part is released in Vali North. Some said Myliddy will not be released. But Myliddy Harbour has been released now. Hence, regime change is the main reason behind the occurrence of changes. If the regime change had not occurred 6,348 acre would have gone to the government. Not even a small plot of land in Kepapulavu would have been released. Mullikulam would not had been released.

Therefore we should not forget the benefits reaped by the regime change. We are not aware of any colonization carried out during the Good Governance, he said.
