Coordinator for Mannar District Association for Missing Persons, Manuel Uthayachchandra said yesterday that International Day for missing persons will be held in North and East on the forthcoming 30th. With the hope that some solution will be delivered to us, we are holding rallies, demonstrations and struggles every year. But neither the Sri Lankan Government nor the International community had delivered us with a solution so far.
We have decided to hold a massive rally on the 30th , the International Day for Missing, including all 8 districts in North and East.
85 youths had gone missing in Mannar District when the Mannar District was under the full control of the Security Forces. Many parents searching for their children had died. We are talking today but, we don’t know whether we will be alive next year.
Hence, each organization, particularly Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, public, business community and vehicle owners should act in support of us. The International Community should turn their eyes towards us, she said.
