North is safe from Corona even now, says Director, JTH,Dr.T.Sathiyamoorthy

Although Corona infected persons are detected in the North, it is not a disease with community spread. Hence, The NP is somewhat safe from Corona even now said the Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Dr. T sathiyamoorthy.

He said this in a media meeting held at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital yesterday.

Elaborating further, he said that the patients confirmed infected with Corona may have not shown any symptoms before. They were identified only at the quarantine centres. They may be carriers. Hence it is not a disease with community spread. However we have to be vigilant.

The Government is providing necessary things for test once in every three days. 72 tests could be carried out per day at the University of Jaffna. Very soon it will be possible to carry out 72 tests per day at the JTH.

He also said he cannot say whether confirmed persons contacted Corona at the quarantine centres.

Meanwhile, the GA, Kilinochchi had announced that no one from Kilinochchi District afflicted with Corona.
