Northern Media men hold protest Rally against the attack on Media men
Mulaitheevu District media men, Shanmugam Thavaseelan and Kanapathypillai Kumanan were attacked on the 12th of this month, by timber smugglers, when they went to cover timber smuggling in the district.
Journalist of all districts of the Northern Province got together in Mulaitheevu yesterday and held a protest rally and submitted memorandums. The rally was held in front of the Mulaitheevu District Secretariat. The Media men engaged in the protest shouting various slogans against the attack, carrying banners with slogans, young plants and tree branches. Then the rally proceeded to the office of District Police Superintendent and handed over memorandums requesting to take action against the attackers, to him along with a plant. Memorandums were also handed over at the District Secretariat to be sent to the President, and at the Mulaitheevu Forest Department office.Vanni district MP, Vinokarathalingam, former NPC Member, T.Raviharan and members of the Karaithuraipattu PS, T.Raveendran and S.Logeswaran participated in the rally.
