While saying that not all the people in the ITAK are supporters of Liberation Tigers, the former Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnanam said that those who were not in the party at its inception are speaking things which they are not aware. He said this in a press conference held in his residence.
Earlier, TNA MP, M.A. Sumanthiran had said elsewhere that that the Tigers had murdered persons engaged in Democratic Politics. CVK said as above when he was asked to comment on Sumanthiran’s statement.
LTTE Leader Prabaharan selected me to meet President Premadasa in the year 1991. At that he told me that we cannot continue to fight forever. We had to adhere to democratic principles. In that way, we should pursue democratic ways and means, he said
Basic things could had been forgotten, because they were being spoken after a long time. Sometimes they may not be aware of them. But the Tigers always adhered to Democratic means. That is how village organizations and people’s organization were formed by them. They had never acted against Democracy. Some people in the ITAK were not there at those times. a gap of 20 years is there.
There is a compulsion to things correctly when truths are to be spoken of. I am a person who lived through that time. Nobody could challenge me in these things, he said.
