The Governor of the Northern Province Pallihakkara has underlined the need for constructive dialogue to address Northern people’s needs.
He expressed this view, when he met well wishers at his Jaffna office, after assuming duites.
He emphasized the need for a constructive dialogue among all concerned to address the issues affecting people, the priority for a people-centric approach to governance, the necessity of a responsive and responsible public service to achieve reconciliation and build post-conflict peace.
The Chief Minister of the Northern Province Justice Wigneswaran welcomed Governor and said he is looking forward to cooperation despite past concerns.
Religious leaders, the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V.Wigneswaran, Chairman of Northern Provincial Council CVK Sivagnanam, Ministers, the Leader of Opposition and the members of the Council, the Chief Secretary of Northern Province, Government Agent of Jaffna, Commanders of the Security Forces, Senior Police Officials, Divisional Secretaries, Heads of Departments and several other dignitaries were present at the event.
Governor Palihakkara had served as Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Geneva. He was a Commissioner of Sri Lanka’s Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC). He also served as Chairman/member of a United Nations advisory Board on Disarmament.
