Number of patients afflicted with Kidney failure in creases in Mulaitheevu District

411 persons in Welioya area and 362 persons in Mallavi area of the Mulaitheevu District have been afflicted with kidney related diseases last year, says the statistics of The Regional Health Secretariat of the District.

The number of kidney patients has increased in Manthai East and Welioya areas of the Mulaitheevu District.

As per the information obtained through the Right to know Act, the number of persons afflicted by Kidney diseases is increasing every year in the Welioya and Mallavi MOH areas.

In  this context proposals were made construct Kidney Units in Welioya and Mallavi areas and constructions were undertaken.

However, the unit at Welioya was completed and handed for people use, but the Mallavi unit is standing incomplete. This had put around 360 patients in Mallavi into discomfort forcing them to seek medical assistance elsewhere.
