The TNA MP, M.A.Sumanthiran has said that the objective of the new constitution is to devolve the power to every one.
He has said this in a discussion regarding the new constitution at Ratnapaura.
Elaborating further he said, Constitution is a social agreement. Although we had 3 constitutions we did not have a Social agreement. A power devolution proposal, recommended by 6 Chief Ministers from the South has been put forward now.
A 7th Chief Minister suggested elimination of Governor system but we have not included in the new constitution.
Hence, the main purpose of the new constitution is to devolve the power to everyone living in Sri Lanka within one country.
Bandaranayake is the first person to introduced a Coalition rule in this country and this is the first time that the two main parties are in the government.
Not only that but also all parties have participated in this and hence this chance should not be missed, he said.
