Observe Maveerar Day without any political discrimination, calls ITAK Leader Mawai Senathyrasa

The Leader of the ITAK and MP, Mawai Senathyrasa has requested all Tamil people to observe the Maveerar Day as a holy day without any political mix-up.

He put out this call in a media conference held at the ITAK’s Office at Martyn Road, Jaffna yesterday.

Elaborating further he said that, the month of November is a holy period for us.

The Tamil race of Sri Lanka was forced bear arms and fight because no solution was found for problems of Tamils of Sri Lanka and because Military oppressions were implanted on the Tamil people, here. Because of these, the armed struggle became a historical occurrence.

Liberation Tigers were an organization accepted by all Tamil people. The Maveerar Day is considered as a holy day to remember the Maveerers who had fought for the Tamil Race and embraced Hero’s deaths.

Recent day had seen that this holy event being unnecessarily politicized hurting the feelings of Tamil people.

Hence all should come forward to engage in prayer for the peace of the souls who had sacrificed themselves on behalf of us. And pay homage to them without political mix-up. We should be people who will respect the Maveerar families and honour the Maveerars all throughout our lives, he said.
