OMP office in Jaffna to hoodwink UN and International countries, says Justice Wigneswaran

OMP office in Jaffna to hoodwink UN and International countries, says Justice Wigneswaran

The former Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council, C.V.Wigneswaran has said that the establishment of the Office of the Missing Persons(OMP)  is to be opened today and this is really an eye wash.

In a context where Savendra Silva being appointed as the Army Commander, the establishment of the OMP in Jaffna is an absolute drama. No benefit had been reaped to date by Tamil people and hence the establishment of the OMP in Jaffna is an eye wash, he said.

If the past activities of the OMP are considered, it will be clear that, they have neither any objective nor a time frame. There are several incidents which have not been reported to this office. But this office is not concerned about them. They are only studying about what had been reported to them instead of studying the data regarding how many people had been made to disappear.

At the same time, no arrangements had been made to contact the Diaspora Tamils to report about their relatives who had been made to disappear.

Hence, it is clear that this office is opened in Jaffna to hoodwink the UN Human Rights Commission and the International Countries. The Government should avoid cheating activities, he said.
