Parts of Mulaitheevu , Kilinochchi, Vavuniya Districts submerged in Flood waters: Several Thousands affected
Following the 48 hours rains that prevailed in Mulaitheevu, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya Districts, parts of these districts have gone under water, up to hip level in some places. All the tanks are spilling at abnormal levels. More than 40,000 people have been affected and several thousands have displaced and staying in transit camps.
although, 11 of the 14 sluice gates of Iranaimadu has been open, the water incoming is more than the water out going and hence a flood situation is prevailing in Kilinochchi area.
