Peaceful rally by Vadamaradchchi Fishermen condemning the transgression of Indian Fishermen

Vadamaradchchi Fishermen undertook a peaceful rally yesterday condemning the Transgression of Indian Fishermen across the International Border, and affectation of their livelihood and damage caused to fishing equipment.

This attention drawing rally was held yesterday from Chetty Theru, Nallur at around 11.00 a.m. and proceeded up to Indian Consulate.

The main Slogans at this rally were :

Indian Government ! Don’t destroy the livelihood of Sri Lankan Fishermen!

Sri Lankan Government! Exert pressure on Indian Government and deliver a solution for wiping the tears of Sri Lankan Fishermen!

The representatives of the Federation of Vadamaradchchi Fisheries Societies met the Consular, A.Balachandran and explained various affectations they are encountering livelihood-wise, due to the transgression of Indian Fishermen and handed over a memorandum regarding them.

Receiving the memorandum the Consular said that this problem had been already taken to the Indian Government and it will be taken again, to the Indian Government in a strong way.
