People abandon their houses at 72- house scheme  at Kanesapuram, Mannar, for want of basic facilities

The people living in the 72 house- scheme at Kanesapuram coming under Vellankulam in Mannar have started abandoning their houses due to basic facilities are not being provided to them, lack of employment opportunities,  and the houses being deteriorated.

This scheme was established in Kaneshapuram, coming under vellankulam in Mannar District,with the aid of the Indian Government and woman-leadership families and families of alternatively abled, who were living without own lands were selected and settled in this scheme.

However due to lack of basic facilities, Employment opportunities people have started abandoning these houses. Around 30 houses are deserted now.

Although it was said that these houses are built at a cost of Rs.800,000/=, currently, these houses are found in partially dilapidated state and the residence are living with fear the the houses may collapse any time.

The people of this housing scheme are requesting that new houses are built for them and  employment opportunity created near the scheme.
