Some people are trying to block the building complex including a modern Operating Theatre in Jaffna Teaching at a cost of 720 Million rupees. This project which will be beneficial to the people of the Northern Province should be implemented. The Northern Province Ministry of Health should intervene in this matter, insisted MPc, S.Sugirthan in the house.
The debate on the budget 2017 was held yesterday at the NPC Secretariat at Kaithady, presided by the Leader of the House, C.V.K. Sivagnanam . Participating in the debate on votes for the Health, Indigenous Medicine and Probation and Child Care Ministries, Sugirthan said further, An Operating theatre and Lecture halls for Medical Students are to be constructed in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital at a cost of 720 Million, received from foreign countries. This is a good project, but some specialist are opposing it say it is not needed. If it does not materialize, only we will feel the effects.
The Northern Province Health Ministry has the obligation for intervening in this matter. Although it is constructed by the Central Government, it belongs to us. If it is sent away it will be great loss to the Northern people. Northern Minister of Health study the pros and cons of this project and take suitable action, said Sugirthan.
