People to demonstrate in front of Vadduvagal Navy Camp demanding release of 617 Acre Lands for 3 days

617 acre lands belonging to the villages of Vadduvagal and Vella Muliwaikkal have been occupied by the Navy. The navy had occupied these lands at the end of the war in 2009 and refusing to release them to date. The said area includes, Agricultural Lands, Coconut estates, Palmyrah lands and residential lands.

The land owners, Public Organizations, RDS, Women Development Societies, and Fishermen’s Associations are to undertake a sit-in- front of the Gate of the Navy Camp in Vadduvagal on 19th, 20th , and 21st, demanding the release of all the above lands and insisting that the Navy to get out of the Lands.

On the 21st the protesters will move in a procession from Vadduvagal, through the Vadduvagal – Selvapuram Road, and will hand over a memorandum to District Secretariat. If no solid answer is given within two week from the date of handing over memorandum, we will siege the District Secretariat and paralyse all activities, they have warned.
