The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) accused yesterday that people are not interested in re-settling in already released lands but, they are asking for release of further land.
The Army is ever ready to release lands provide resettling people with needed facilities and build their houses. But the land owners are not interested in settling into lands already released, said the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, yesterday.
The Commander who participated in an event held at Palaly, was asked by the media whether any progress is there in the releasing of the lands. The commander in replying them said as above.
Elaborating further he said to date around 8,800 acre which were in the HSZ had been released, but only 4,770 acre had been occupied. The balance land is found overgrown with shrubs.
He expressed concern that people who engage in struggles for the release of the land do not show interest in occupying released lands
