Pieces of bones recovered from soil excavated at Sathosa Premises, Mannar

Pieces of bones, suspected to be of humans were recovered from soil excavated from the Sathosa premises located at the entrance to Mannar town and sold to the public.

Examinations had been undertaken to determine whether they are bones of Animals or humans.

Sathosa buildings located near the Entrance to Mannar town were demolished completely for the purpose of putting up new buildings. The soil that is excavated there are being sold to the public.

A person in Emil Nagar, Mannar had purchased one Tipper soil, a few days ago. When he was transferring the soil from outside his house to inside he had detected few pieces of bones, got suspicious and informed the police of his find.

Police had gone to his house on the following day and had taken action to determine whether they are human bones or not. The location where the soil was excavated had been brought under the security of the Police, until the judge and relevant officials will visit the location for observations.

It I notable that a case regarding the mass grave detected at Thiruketheeswaram in Mannar is progressing in the Court and that Human skeletons were recovered at Uyilankulam, lying on Mannar Medawachchiya Road.
