Police inquired yesterday for two hours, Justice Wigneswaran on his statement that the Tamils are the most ancient settlers of Sri Lanka.
This inquiry was held at the residence of Justice Wigneswaran on orders from Colombo. It was stated that his statement might create racial tension and it was ordered from Colombo to find whether he issued such a statement.
Wigneswaran had proceeded to say to the police officer that the ancient settlers of Sri Lanka are Tamils, then accepted that he did issue the statement and provided a copy of his statement to the Police officer.
The police officer had said that he will send the statement to Colombo and he will come back if necessary.
Commenting on the inquiry, Justice Wigneswaran said, it is a great wonder that inquiry had happened after 7 months of issuing the statement and closer to the elections.
If the Rajapakses think that they could bully Tamil people into submission they must change their opinion.
