Politicians are the Sales Agents of Narcotics, accuses Northern officer in Charge of Anti – Alcohol and Drugs Centre

An awareness should be created at village level to wipe out the abuse of Liquor and narcotics. Social Organizations and progressive thinkers should get together to work for this end. Multi National Companies are engaged in the production of tobacco products and alcohol.  Our politicians act as their sales agents. The public should take into their mind that they will never act taking the interests of the public into their consideration.  The Northern officer in Charge of Anti – Alcohol and Drugs Centre,  A. Kodeeswaran accused so,  in a seminar regarding Elimination of Liquor and Narcotics, held at the Office of the Atchchuveli Grama Officer, last Friday.

The event was presided by Final Year Field Study student, Rasakumar Abhiramy

Elaborating further he said, the consumption of Liquor and narcotics is increasing in the Northern Province, especially in the Jaffna District. It is a great social threat. Pre-planned activities are undertaken now to introduce students and youth in the use of liquor and narcotics.

In  this context, Social Organizations and Social Activists should come forward to act with vigilance. Our Organization will provide constructive suggestions in this regard, he said.
