Bharathiraja, known as “Iyakkunar Imayam” in Tamil Cinema industry says he hates politics, which means telling lies through microphone.
“MGR asked me, why don’t you come to politics. Kalaignar and Madam also asked me to join politics. I said no to all of them. I am an artist and I want to die as an artist” he said in an interview with S.A.N Rajkumar for ‘The Conversation’ programme.
The veteran also expressed his displeasure for not taking effective steps to establish “Tamil Naadu Film Chamber “in India. “ There is no Tamil Naadu film chamber. We only have South Indian film chamber. But, there is Andra Artists Association, Kerala Artists Association etc., but not Tamil Nadu Artists Association. It’s because only a very few people are voicing for it. The fact is that we don’t have many Tamilians in the industry” he said.
He also expressed his admiration for Eelam and its talented, hardworking people “Eelam Tamils have fashioned the identity of Tamils and Tamil race” he added.
