The powers granted under unitary state system are not permanent: says CM NPC

Whatever powers are granted under the unitary state system, they are inherent with the danger of being  revoked at any time. A solution based on Federal system will be the final and conclusive, said C.V.Wigneswaran, the CM of the Northern Provincial Council.

The publication of a book authored by popular political critic Kusal Perera was held at the Ilankai Mantrak Kalloori  yesterday. NPC CM also took part in this event. He answered as above to a question,  whether, the federal system demand will be abandoned if adequate powers are granted under unitary state system.

Elaborating further, he said, ” When the government undertake wrong projects I am saying they are wrong. When they undertake correct projects I am saying they are correct. I don’t see anything wrong in it. Some activities are being undertaken spreading fear that ‘Mahindha will come back’. They are unacceptable.

I don’t say that the Government has not done anything. I have not taken any constructive action regarding important matters including New Constitution, reducing the presence of the military in the North and East. I am saying to do them.

Provisions have to be made so that the powers granted cannot be revoked. You cannot expect it under unitary state system. Federal system is the only solution he said.
