President requested to remove the Army Memorial constructed after war, at Depot. Junction: Kilinochchi, District Secretariat requests

As per a decision of the Coordinating Committee, the District Secretary, S. Arumainayagam has sent a letter requesting the President to remove the Army Memorial built at the Depot Junction, Kilinochchi, which has been considered not conducive to National Reconciliation.

For whom is the Army Memorial located at the Depot junction,  when was the brick walls constructed ? Where did the bricks for the wall come from? asked MP, S. Siritharan. He also raised a question as to whether the UDA is aiding the Army? He further said that the Army and the UDA are blocking the Development of Kilinochchi town.

Following this, a decision was taken to request the President to remove the memorial,  as it is not conducive to the National reconciliation. Accordingly, the District Secretariat has sent a letter,  regarding the removal.
