Pressures of South will decline some day. Until then our voices for our rights should rise loudly– CM

If we ask that, we should be allowed to rule ourselves, in our regions and live like citizen with sovereignty, they monody that we are demanding partition. Their continuous pressures will come to rest one day. Until then our voices demanding our rights should rang out loudly, said the Chief Minister, C. V. Wigneswaran.

He was participating in the final day event of the 2-day International Women conference held in the Conference hall of the Jaffna Library and delivering his address when he said this.

Speaking further he said, I understood that more the 25 intellectuals from India and one each from various countries have participated in the Conference and that research papers were read under nearly 52 titles. In this post war era our women have to encounter several problems. Women, woman-Leadership families, children, Differently abled, the list goes on and on. What the NPC could provide them is very meager.

Although, we ask the Government to undertake relief measures in consultation with the NPC, the Government is heeding the request.

Tamils are the ancient settlers of this country. they had been reduced to a fate of living as an oppressed minority. The government expects the Tamils to live by nodding to everything the majority people say. We are in a situation where we had to struggle for everything we need.

I thank you all who have come from abroad, for the concern you have over the Tamil people in Sri Lanka.”, he said.
