I am talking tightly with the Leadership of Colombo Government with regard to the matter of Missing persons. We are pursuing this matter as much as possible. Let us pray to God to solve all the problems of Tamil people including this, said the Leader of the opposition and Leader of the TNA, Era Sampanthan.
Sampanthan met the relatives of missing persons who are engaged in a struggle demanding information on their missing relatives for the last 143 days. The relatives poured their worries over Sampanthan, some even falling at his feet.
After consoling them he spoke among them, “we are pursuing the matter on a hard line. We have told them that we have to give concrete answers to our people. After my insistence some things have started to move. If our need are to be fulfilled it is essential that some time has to be given. We should handle this matter with care” he said.
A proper inquiry has to be held. What happened to them must be made known. Compensations should be paid to the relatives. Peace should be made to prevail over them. A plan should made and implemented for , he said.
MP, S.Sritharan and the Former Education Minister, T. Kurukularajah also participated in this meeting.
