After the Jumma prayer, Muslims held a peaceful demonstration against Charlie Hebdo Magazine in Kurunegala on Friday. Demonstrators told that they will submit a petition to France. Then they burnt French flag. This was the first demonstration against Charlie Hebdo in Sri Lanka.

According to mainstream Islamic tradition, any physical depiction of the Prophet Muhammad — even a respectful one — is considered blasphemous.
