UPFA opposition Parliamentarians staged a protest outside Parliament after they walked out of the House complaining that the Financial Bills were taken up without providing adequate time.
Earlier when the Bills were moved by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake for a debate, Chandrasiri Gajdeera raised a point of order stating that the House needs time to study the Bills.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe explained that the matter was discussed with Party Leaders and therefore each and every member cannot raise individual opinions.
Thereafter Speaker Karu Jayasuriya suspended the sittings of the House for fifteen minutes and held a party leaders’ meeting. When the House resumed its sittings, Speaker announced that he was of the opinion that the debate could go on.
